I began cooking in local restaurants of Santa Cruz in 1980. I graduated from the California Culinary Academy in 1984.

I have traveled extensively in Europe and worked in the highest acclaimed Michelin Guide rated restaurants from 1985-1987.

From 1992 thru 2004 I was Chef / Owner of locally acclaimed food institution Blacks Beach Café in Santa Cruz; known for its signature cuisine featuring fresh organic product from nearby farms served in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

I've served on the Board of Advisors for the Cabrillo College Culinary Arts program and the Friends of the Farm and Garden project for sustainable agriculture at UCSC.

I'm currently cooking, consulting and teaching for both private and corporate clients.
